Governor Kathy Hochul said Tuesday she will not "back down" on her effort to reform state discovery laws to make it harder for defense attorneys to get cases dismissed on technicalities.

Hochul spoke at an event at the Ulster County Law Enforcement Center to push her plan to include discovery law changes in her executive budget, which will require approval by the Democratic-controlled state legislature.
Ulster County Sheriff Juan Figueroa and Ulster County District Attorney Emmanuel Nneji also attended the event and expressed their support for Hochul's proposal.
