IONE and Lisa B Kelley continue their conversation with special guest Nancy O Graham and their dream practices including Somniloquies - Somniloquy (from Latin meaning somnus to sleep + loqui to speak),  Hypnagogic (experiences occur as a person is falling asleep) and hypnopompic (experiences occur as a person is waking up) states as a mysterious and potent space where surprising messages and creative sparks can occur.

They dive into Nancy's creosote dream and somniloquy. Nancy shares their latest practice: listening and dreaming in the hypnopompic state in the morning. IONE read excerpts from her Listening in Dreams book and offers a list of sound prompts in dreams. They also talked about dreams and space, working with the book A Pattern Language written by a team of architects to explore this.

Nancy O. Graham’s creative practices range from performance in theatre and film to writing and other forms of play with text to image making. Their somniloquies—poems based on sleeptalk—have been published in various online journals and in the books Listening in Dreams: A Compendium of Sound Dreams, Meditations and Rituals for Deep Dreamers by Ione and InFiltration: An Anthology of Innovative Poetry from the Hudson River Valley, edited by Anne Gorrick and Sam Truitt. Her short story based on a dream, I Shefam Im, an annotated story, appeared in The Café Irreal. They act in theatre and film under the name Noa Graham. Recent theatre work has included Kairos Looney’s House of Telescopes (Off Broadway, spring 2024), Paula Vogel’s Indecent at Playhouse on Park in Hartford, CT (winner of Connecticut Critics Circle Award for Best Ensemble, 2023). Recent film work: The short film Elegy for a Glacier (2023), which recently screened at Barnard College’s Athena Film Festival, is streaming on AMC Plus here as part of a collection called Athena Rising Stars.
