Happpppppy New Year listeners! What did you do for New Years Eve? Did you stay home?  Go to a small gathering with friends? Maybe you did some sort of ritual or cleaned out your workspace or closet? This years 'celebration' felt a little more laid back right? Are you emotionally exhausted, or feeling fearful? Maybe you're excited to move out of 2018 and get into 2019! We're really grateful for all the work that 2018 provided for us. Lots of emotions to look at and process. Lots of boundaries were set with sexuality, racism and also women stepping up with the #metoo movement.  So excited for 2019, lots of conversations to have, lots of women to meet, some roadtrips to go on, we hope you come along for the ride.

Our first guest today is Meghan Don, is an Award-Winning Author, Multi-Faith Minister, and an Initiate of the Sophian Lineage. She has worked extensively with the Christian mystics, the Kabbalistic teachings, and Jungian psychology. She is renowned for her work in helping to raise the feminine consciousness and confidence in our world, and coming from Celtic heritage is informed by a deep connection with the natural world. Her work incorporates mystical prayer and meditation, spiritual dialogue, and sacred dance and chant, bringing ancient wisdom into a contemporary and accessible form. Meghan has taught at Omega Institute, Esalen Institute, Unity and New Thought Churches, Interfaith Training Institutes. and Episcopal and Methodist Churches. She has recently moved to the Catskills, NY to create, “The Sanctuary of Sophia: A Center for the Awakened Feminine” & an Eco-Spiritual Community. When she was 19 years old she found herself living in an Ashram in India, and then after seeing how the women were treated she decided that she needed to keep looking for the spirituality that honors and incorporates the feminine. She found this in the mystics and the Gnostic traditions which allow for an evolution of the teachings as our consciousness evolves, allowing it to take shape as needed. She talks about us (people) as mythic beings, and why is it so difficult for women to come forward, why is there that nagging feeling of not being 'enough', and why is it a struggle to be confident. Hint, she found it in the misinformed creation myth of the Christian teachings. Theresa interviews her about the seven faces of the feminine which goes deeply into ino her latest book "The New Divine Feminine".  She has some events happening in the Hudson Valley. You can find her in Woodstock at Sage this Sunday, 1.6, next Sunday 1.13 (and subsequent 2nd Sundays) at Anahata in Kingston and next Wednesday 1.9 (and subsequent 2nd Wednesdays) at One Epic Place in New Paltz. So much in this interview, close your eyes and sink in!

Our second guest today is Elly Swope. Shana met her on her last tour to the west coast.  Elly is a recording engineer working out of Destination Universe in Portland Oregon. She moved to Portland 8 years ago to find her people, which she did immediately. She is a multi-instrumentalist, self taught guitarist and professional drummer.  She shares about life after a 5 year relationship and her band ended simultaneously. Taking sometime to reflect and think about what she loves and what inspires her creatively, her answer was making her own music and recording bands. The interview deep dives into the challenges of staying positive in the music industry and how she decided to fall in love with the "process and the journey". She's been touring with bands out of Portland and also just released her new EP:  It Feels The Same Everytime.

** there was some technical difficulty with this recording software, you may hear some wifi disfunction on Elly's end and some echo on Shana's end, but it came out beyond that so we aired it!
Health care, self help, self care, elf care...it's that time to talk about how we are taking care of ourselves!!! Shana talks about finding herself in a mild state of depression and how she allowed herself to be in it and see it and then take small steps to move herself through it. She found herself trusting in herself and that brought her the comfort of knowing she would be fine and that this too shall pass. Theresa talks about feeling the fire of 2019! It seems to be the theme coming through for 2019. To quote her We'moon calendar book, it's time to "crank up the heat. We need to be on fire this year, but whether we feel the hearth fire of the gathering collective, the fire of a combustion engine, or just burn the house down--that will be up to us and how we use the aspects." Feel the fire, use that energy for good, and have an amazing 2019!
Today's show was engineered by Manuel Blas. We heard music from Elly Swope and Shana Falana. Next week we have a mystery guest and special in studio guest, Kids with special needs yoga teacher, Jennifer Dignon.
Until next week, love yourself and uplift one another...
