In today's episode of Let's Talk Kingston, we had the pleasure of speaking with Melissa Iachetta, a dedicated volunteer, and Suzie Fromer, the Coordinator of Repair Cafe Hudson Valley.
During our conversation, we delved into their personal journeys of getting involved with Repair Cafe Hudson Valley and their roles in advancing the Repair Revolution. For those interested in learning more, you can purchase their book "Repair Revolution" at http://www.repaircafehv.org/repair-revolution-book.
We also celebrated a remarkable milestone as New Paltz marked its tenth year of hosting Repair Cafes, showcasing a decade of community-driven repair efforts.
Kingston is now gearing up to host its own Repair Cafe event on October 28th, from 11 am to 3 pm, at 104 Wurts Street - Redeemer Lutheran Church. The event promises a gathering of skilled tinkers specializing in various repair domains, including sewing, sewing machine repair, welding, woodwork, electrical/mechanical, and computer repair.
This event aligns perfectly with the principles of reducing waste, reusing items, and recycling wherever possible, fostering sustainability and community collaboration.
So, mark your calendars for October 28th and join us at the Kingston Repair Cafe to witness the magic of fixing and restoring, all while contributing to a greener, more sustainable future.
