Duane invites listeners to get to know the amazing Lower Esopus Creek ecosystem with watershed advocate Mary Macnamara. The Esopus Creek flows from the Catskills through seven municipalities before reaching the Hudson River. Mary's love for this local creek is contagious and she shares about current planning projects, challenges, and visions for the stewardship of this local aquatic gem.
Since 2000, Mary has worked to empower and connect communities to advocate for water issues, always with a focus on watershed boundaries. She is the co-creator of several intermunicipal watershed alliances in the Hudson Valley – often representing Ulster County and the Town of Saugerties – and has worked with many different committees and boards over the years.
