Today we speak with Paul Thompson. Raised in Beacon, NY, Paul Thompson discovered his passion for writing and performing hip-hop music during his middle and high school years, often collaborating with friends after school. His creative journey began with editing music in Adobe Audition and evolved into filmmaking and video editing in Adobe Premiere Pro while attending Dutchess Community College and the College of Saint Rose.
Over the years, Paul has honed his skills across various forms of filmmaking, including short films, documentaries, wedding films, photography, and live event streaming. Since 2015, he has worked with The Art Effect, mentoring teenage youth in media production and workforce development.
As the Director of Forge Media, The Art Effect's production apprenticeship house, Paul supports aspiring filmmakers—many of whom have come through The Art Effect’s Sparks Studio program—by providing them with invaluable hands-on experience on professional sets.
