In this week's show:

  • At least six women have launched a petition calling upon the Ulster County Legislature to censure and request the resignation of New Paltz Legislator Hector Rodriguez, who was found, by an independent investigation, to have violated the County’s sexual harassment policy in dealings with his constituents.  View the Legislative calendar here.
  • The Common Council met on Tuesday, and we’ll have some updates on lowering the speed limit in the City of Kingston, a measure put forward by Majority Leader Rennie Scott-Childress, and grant money for the intersection at Broadway where a new park is going in at the old post office/Planet Wings site.
  • New York Farm Animal Save has been protesting outside Charles River Laboratory in Kingston for two years now.  We attend a protest to find out why.  Learn more about the Charles River Lab animals in science program here.  See the NY Farm Animal Save petition to Charles River Lab here.
  • Mochilero is co-sponsoring an event to show the documentary film about the Grannies Respond on November 21st at Old Dutch Church, beginning at 6:30p.  The evening includes conversation, Q&A, and free food.  Antonio Flores-Lobos personally invites you all to come!
  • Fanon Frazier, Community Organizer for Citizen Action of the Hudson Valley, tells us about their Demand Justice campaign to end mass incarceration and the school-to-prison pipeline.  Join them every Wednesday night at 6p at the Citizen Action Kingston office at 7 Grand Street to learn more.
  • JoAnne Myers, Associate Professor of Political Science at Marist College and Vice President of the Board for the Hudson Valley LGBTQ Center in Kingston, discusses her latest book, The Good Citizen: The Markers of Privilege in America.  Ask your local bookstore to order it!
  • Coming up next week:  The Kingston Planning Board will hold another public hearing on the Kingstonian proposal on Monday, November 18th, at 6p at City Hall, 420 Broadway.  The Ulster County Legislature meets on Tuesday, November 19th, at 7p at the County Office Building at 240 Fair Street to discuss censuring Legislator Hector Rodriguez, among other topics.
  • And... after almost two years of fresh episodes each and every week here on Radio Kingston, the last episode of The Source will be next week on November 22nd!  Don't miss it!
