Good Bye!
The end of a run that began in November of 2020 when the Good Work Hour first appeared on the airwaves of Radio Kingston. 270 something episodes later Susan, Hélène, Massoumeh, Holly, Aja and I gathered reminisce and celebrate. So many wonderful guests have joined us over these 5 years to share their good work with our listeners. We are beyond grateful.
Food & Community with Fareground
I was joined by 3 folks over at Fareground - Jamie Levato, the Executive Director, Co-Founder and President Kara Marie Dean-Assael, and Vice President Maggie Dickinson. They each speak about the work of Fareground and why people having access to good, beautiful, healthy and delicious food is so essential and how community can be found in the process.
On the Potential of Harmful System Breakdown
In this episode, Susan and Micah discuss power and systems. As they converse, they talk about the fact that humans are a young species. Dominant cosmologies put us in the center. With a view that everything is for us, we relate to the world from a competitive fear of scarcity and fear of what other humans might do to us. Our view of power - a force for moving things with - is rooted in this fear. What if we could practice holding power collectively? What if power could be loving?
A More Sustainable Hudson Valley with Melissa Everett
Melissa Everett joined me for a discussion about the organization she founded Sustainable Hudson Valley and the work it is doing to help people navigate and learn about some of the ways that we can each contribute to a more sustainable life. It can be overwhelming, and the current headlines don't help, but there is still so much good work happening. You can also attend the Clean Power Guide 2026, happening Wed Jan 28, 2026 5:30 - 7:30pm at The Fuller Building in Kingston to find out a lot more.
The Right of the People with Osita Nwanevu
Osita Nwanevu, author of The Right of the People: Democracy and the Case for a New American Founding joined me for a discussion about democracy.
A new offering at GWI - Solidarity Leaders Lab
My colleagues Aja and Mass joined me to discuss our new Fellowship program that starts this spring - Solidarity Leaders Lab: Facilitating the Future.
Happy New Year!
My daughter Lotus stopped by to usher in the new year with some really good music. Enjoy!

Music Is The Weapon
Words from Fela Kuti - "Music is the weapon". The opening song of this show from it's start has been Fela Kuti's Water No Get Enemy. Fela was certainly an incredible musician but he was also a revolutionary who's life was complicated to say the least. If you are interested in his music and life you should listen the the podcast - Fear No Man. I've been listening and its my new favorite thing. It also inspired this show - Music Is The Weapon.
What is Good Work and how do we do it? What’s the impact on our lives when we focus our love and attention and time in our communities and consciously work towards Just Transition? What is Just Transition anyway? How do we get there?
In The Good Work Hour, we’ll be diving into what Good Work looks like in action, spotlighting people who are showing up, speaking out, and doing the deep work to move us towards Just Transition in the Hudson Valley. Hosted by a rotating duo of team members from the Good Work Institute, you’ll hear from a diversity of guests who will bring their perspectives on how we can create positive change here and now, and how you can get involved.
