Margie Menard & Sarah Wenk from The Kingston Library stopped by to talk about not only how vital the Kingston Library is to our community by how libraries as a whole bring so many benefits to so many people that they serve.

And please be sure to check out Kingston Library to see their event calendar and many resources!

Margie Mennard was born and raised in central Connecticut where I grew up with 11 siblings in a house full of books. Regular trips to the public library were part of the routine.

She got a BA in English from Eastern CT State University and a Master of Library Science from Southern CT State University. She paid for her education working in bars and restaurants and learned to love the service aspects of the work and the amazing opportunities to interact with people throughout the community. She has now been a librarian for 35 years and those same job features are what has kept her loving her job all these years.

She’s  worked in corporate, school, and public libraries in CT, AZ, and NY but public libraries are really where her heart is. She arrived at Kingston Library in 2004 and has thoroughly enjoyed having the opportunity to serve and be part of this wonderful community for 20 years.

Sarah Wenk grew up in San Francisco and Woodstock, went to college at SUNY/Purchase and grad school at SUNY/New Paltz, and has lived full time in Kingston since 2016. She ran for the library board because she wanted to serve her community and couldn't think of a better or more important mission than supporting the library. It's been my honor to serve as Board President for two terms. Sarah has a lot of cats!
