Julia Furlan is an award-winning audio journalist who has worked for places like NPR, WNYC, Vox Media, and BuzzFeed News. Most recently, she edited an 8-part audio documentary about LGBTQ icon Marsha P. Johnson. As a professor, she has taught audio journalism at NYU and The New School, and media ethics at the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism. All of her work seeks to create community and encourage people to see existing power structures as they are. Julia is a proud, queer, Brazilian-American, and lives with her spouse, their toddler, two cats, and a jungle of houseplants.
