Good Wednesday friends! Today in La Voz with Mariel Fiori is education and family day.
Today we spoke with Michelle Gluck, Sr. Environmental Resources Technician for the Ulster County Department of Environment, who explained the Ulster County Community Climate Action Plan and invited us to a community forum on Wednesday, July 10 at 7 p.m., by reaching out to Gluck at (845) 338-7455. This newly launched project will calculate substances released into the air called greenhouse gas emissions and identify county-level solutions or “climate action initiatives” to address and reduce these emissions.
We were also joined by Amy Wu, Communications Manager, and Teresa Dorado, Applied Farmscape Ecology Program Coordinator at the Hudson Valley Farm Hub. Both gave us a preview of the projects the farm will offer very soon, such as the series Women in Ecology.
Additionally, from our archives we share an interview with Emma Hulse of the New York Civil Liberties Union Education Policy Center, NYCLU, about the rights of immigrant students to a bilingual education (TDE or DUAL), and how parents can advocate about it in the Hudson Valley.
