Happy Tuesday, friends! Today on La Voz with Mariel Fiori is a day of health, family, and the environment.
We met Dr. Marc Rosenbaum, founder and director of The Family Resiliency Program, a program for parents and caregivers focused on emotional connection, stress reduction, communication, and practical parenting tools. Kristen Wilson told us how to be part of the design of the community space for the Midtown Kingston Linear Park. At the upcoming community workshop to help define the future of the new Community Space at Midtown Linear Park, they will share three proposed design strategies, developed from community input to date, and they want your input. On Sunday, August 17, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Midtown Linear Park on Cornell Street, Kingston (Red Owl, off 25 Cornell Street, in case of inclement weather). At 8 p.m., there will be a screening of Time Bandits, the 1981 cult classic by filmmaker Terry Gilliam, presented by the Kingston Film Foundation.
María Alejandra Rojas invited us to the Children's Charity Classic Show, a community-focused equestrian event on Friday, August 29, at HITS in Saugerties, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Organized by the United Way of Ulster County and sponsored by HITS, this competition raises funds for youth programs by partnering local nonprofit organizations with costumed show jumping teams in a lively competition. Tickets range from $5 to $50 for adults; children under 12 are free.
In her opinion column, journalist Amy Goodman also reflected on the need to move from thought to action: the fight against plastic pollution.
