She began making videos sharing her love for geology online in 2020 and has since then grown an audience of over 150k viewers across Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok. She loves to travel around the world and teach her audience the fascinating geology behind the places she visits. She also hosts her own show on HUDSY TV New York Rocks with Geo Beck!

Today we speak with Oscar Rivas. He is the Owner of Du GOOD Studio, a content production studio based in the Hudson Valley that helps small businesses and Main Street brands stand out through high-quality video, photography, and digital storytelling. Before launching his own studio, Oscar worked as a video editor on major national advertising campaigns for top agencies like Crispin Porter + Bogusky, Y&R, Kbs+p, and J. Walter Thompson. Now, he brings that expertise to help local businesses refine their communication strategies and elevate their brands.
Beyond his work in content creation, Oscar Rivas is an avid photographer, having taken on year-long daily photo challenges in 2019 and again in 2025. In 2024, he documented his personal weight loss journey, losing 80 lbs after undergoing RNY surgery. This year, he’s pushing his creativity further by documenting his life every day on YouTube, offering an inside look at his journey in growing a content studio and tackling exciting new projects.
Reel to Real Episode 46: Paul Thompson
Today we speak with Paul Thompson. Raised in Beacon, NY, Paul Thompson discovered his passion for writing and performing hip-hop music during his middle and high school years, often collaborating with friends after school. His creative journey began with editing music in Adobe Audition and evolved into filmmaking and video editing in Adobe Premiere Pro while attending Dutchess Community College and the College of Saint Rose.
Over the years, Paul has honed his skills across various forms of filmmaking, including short films, documentaries, wedding films, photography, and live event streaming. Since 2015, he has worked with The Art Effect, mentoring teenage youth in media production and workforce development.
As the Director of Forge Media, The Art Effect's production apprenticeship house, Paul supports aspiring filmmakers—many of whom have come through The Art Effect’s Sparks Studio program—by providing them with invaluable hands-on experience on professional sets.

Today we speak with Brian K. Mahoney. Brian is the editorial director of Chronogram Media, and oversees the operations of Chronogram, Upstate House, The River Newsroom, Upstater, Rural Intelligence, and Explore the Hudson Valley. Brian has been covering the cultural landscape of the Hudson Valley since 1996 and documenting its ongoing evolution. His publication credits include the New York Press, T magazine, Utne Reader, the Village Voice, and American Craft. In 2024, he won the Association of Alternative Newsweeklies Award for Best Special Section for “The Future Is Now,” a feature package in the July 2020 issue of Chronogram. He lives in Kingston with his wife Lee Anne and the rapscallion mutt Clancy.
